The Nike Air Griffey Max 2 Revived for the Diamond
The resurgence of iconic athletic footwear from the 1990s continues as Nike revives another legendary design for modern sports performance. Following the successful return of Deion Sanders' Air DT Max ’96, both in lifestyle and cleated versions, Nike now sets its sights on reintroducing Ken Griffey Jr.'s second signature shoe, the Air Griffey Max 2, this time re-engineered for baseball's diamond.
While this release isn't one of the original colorways, the newly unveiled Griffey Max 2 Cleat sports a sleek black leather base, accented with electric yellow highlights. These vibrant details appear on the fore-foot Swoosh logo, the medial heel, and the iconic Swingman emblem that adorns the heel, adding a dynamic flair to the classic design. A standout feature is the star icon on the tongue pull-tab, hinting that this edition might be a special release for the 2024 MLB All-Star Game scheduled in Arlington, Texas.
Details about the official release date are still under off, but these cleats are expected to hit shelves in July, just in time for the mid-Summer classic, with a suggested retail price of $150.
