Sacha Pütz

A flyfisher and fly tyer since 1985, Sacha has visited many national and international flyfishing shows and demonstrated his tying skills in 12 different countries: Denmark, USA, Canada, England, Sweden, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Ireland, and Germany.

In 2008 he won in 4 categories in the first German Fly Tying Championship, was Grand Prix Winner in 2003 in Japan (Ken Sawada Contest), was Irish Open Champion in 2004 (2xGold, 2xSilver, 2xBronze), was Irish Open Champion in 2005 (1xGold, 1xSilver, 1xBronze), was Mustad Scandinavian Open Champion, and participated in the German Fly Tying Open in 2000 and the Slovenian Fly Tying Contest.

A special highlight for him was demonstrating fly tying in the USA at the “International Fly Tying Symposium” and at the “Fly Fishing Show” in Somerset, New Jersey: in 2002 “Salmonflies by Sacha Pütz” (classic salmon flies), in 2003 “Modern Salmon Flies by Sacha Pütz” (tube flies), and in 2007 “Classic Salmon Flies 2007 by Sacha Pütz.”

In 1994, together with 5 friends, Sacha founded “The fly tying cycle Hagen” which gives courses in fly tying and fly fishing and also gives lessons in schools for young children.

Sacha has contributed articles to “Tube Flies Two: Evolutions” by Mark Mandell and Bob Kenly (USA), “Flytiers of the World” Vol. 3 by Steve Thornton (England), and “Fly tying” by Armando Quazzo (Italy).

Sacha is very proud to have tied a Dusty Miller for the ALS Society Poster Project in memory of Gary Lafontaine.

Sacha tied flies at the ASFI (Atlantic Salmon Fly International) in 2016 in Seattle, Washington, USA and at the ASFI in 2018 in Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada.
