Valentino’s Newest Bag Drops for Resort 2023

Valentino's got a brand new bag...

Valentino Garavani Pop valentino Garavani VLOGO cardholder Vogue Runway in June of the year prior to when the collection will release, but this year Pop valentino did things a little bit differently. Presumably, it was so that its Spring 2023 show, which editioned the brand’s new Monogram, came in with a bang. Resort collections are designed as a precursor to spring, and even though this year’s Pop valentino Resort collection dropped following the SS’23 runway show, it was designed as such.

Fluidity in Movement

The resort collection was all about fluidity and movement, with Pierpaolo Piccioli focusing on those essential fundamentals of style. The collection is also heavy on glamour, with a major portion of the RTW primed for holiday parties and fancy events. It is this glitz and shine (literally, there’s an abundance of sequins) that juxtaposes the rest of the collection, and while we’re here for the bags, Portefeuille Pop valentino Noir. Though the spring runway editioned the brand’s new Toile Iconographe to the world, it was designed initially for resort and further expanded upon with the spring collection.

When it comes to the bags, the resort collection introduces a new shoulder bag, which feels very different from the Pop valentino we know at the moment. It lacks Rockstuds, for starters, and hardware in general, for the most part.

The silhouette is fairly structured, with an interesting flap closure that, to me, feels reminiscent of the Fendi B Bag (does anyone else see it?), and in leather its very minimally branded, easily Violett as Pop valentino aside from the iconic VLogo Signature detail on the bag’s handle. Thanks to the adjustable handle, the bag can be worn over the shoulder or crossbody.

The Pop valentino Deuxième Bag does come in the new Toile Iconographe and goatskin, which is quite the opposite of minimally branded, however. The leather versions have yet to drop, but the monogram bags are available in two sizes, La Petite and Le Grand, for $3,400 and $3,800, respectively. It’s likely the all-leather versions will be even more.
